Styliani Daouti studied Architecture at the Paris-Belleville Architecture School in France (DPLG, 2002) and worked at architectural offices in Paris before receiving an MSc in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in New York (2005). In 2006, together with the architects George Mitroulia and Michalis Raftopoulos, he founded the AREA (Architecture Research Athens) team. Their work in Greece has received many distinctions in international competitions, such as Athens 4, 2010 (Prize) and European Europan urban design contest in 2013 and 2015. The team’s approach to the modern city is based on considering people the amin starting point of design, often developed through participatory practices. Their work has been presented at exhibitions such as “Made in Athens”, the Greek booth at the Biennale of Venice in 2012, “Adhocracy Athens” and “Tomorrows” at the House of Arts and Letters in 2015 and 2017, respectively. The group’s activity is teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programs of architectural design at the Department of Architecture of the University of Thessaly and the University of Patras.
